You know they all say that if you want to be a writer or whatnot then just write stuff. Don`t worry about whether it`s good or bad, just get it down.
Of course it`s the new year and all that. The new president is going to be sworn in on tuesday. Everyone and their mothers brother will be watching. It`s a pretty big change. A black male president. Impressive, if you ask me. Of course the real question, the one on everyones mind is, what`s he going to do ? I know I would like to know. So far he seems to be a man of conscience. One who will consult his peers and advisors and think about the effects of his decisions. Long and short term. Of course the obvious is that he`s black and if he has a hope or prayer of being re-elected, he has to get it right the first time. Whether you like it or not, this country has a very racist vibe to it, period. The other thing on everyones mind is, what is king george the second going to do ? We all wonder if he has one final card up his sleeve to play out on us. If anyone has ever been hated more it`s king george. I know we are all relieved that he`s done.
I had some other things to say, that I thought were witty and sarcastic, and would be very thought provoking and all. I guess when I thought it over, it just seemed mean spirited and spiteful. So in that sense, what good does it really do ? In a way, yes I want to come across as edgy, and play devils advocate with you. That has been, and always will be my motivation, and drive. I find that too many of us are cruising down the highway of life in our mental coffins. Slowly welding that steel cage around our minds alittle tighter each passing day. So from me, I sincerely wish and hope that the collective unconscious of humanity will wake up alittle bit, and not be partially dead.

Okay, so unless you`ve been living under a large pile of rocks, you`ve undoubtly read the news. O.j. is going to jail. Many years later and with much harassement, and golfing its all over. The part that really slays me (pun intended),he was actually going to release a book entitled – If, I did it. I mean, give me a break okay. Thankfully, the victims family had the book taken out of print and all that. Plus the public outcry was pretty good. I think if the book was published o.j. would have to have had a body guard on him at all times, anytime he went out in public. So the final trial. What I enjoyed was that the trial judge reached to the back, grabbed ahold and said – C.Y.A. – This trial and sentencing is not about vindication and revenge. Of course – she – went on to sentence him to nine to thirty three years. Now for those of you who don`t take a passive study of the prison system and various laws, nine years is the mandatory sentence for murder. Thats right peeps, you get down with alittle slasheroo and yo butt in da grey bar hotel for da nine count. I should mention that its also without parole. Which in regular terms is a ‘life sentence’. Also of note was the drama happening outside the court house. The protesting, the signs, and people yelling, fighting, and crying. There are actually still people that believe his is innocent. I know, I know, everyone says its a racial issue, if you think he`s guilty. My question is, what if he really did murder his wife, and really did get away with it ? Is that racist ? Obviously you see how ludicriss that last statement sounds. I saw a few pictures of o.j. as he was leaving the court room. He had his head down and eyes closed, in a strange sort of way, he almost had a look of releif on his face. Like he was thinking its all finally over. Yeah, another public drama comes to a close. I remember the day they announced the verdict reguarding his trial of murder. The place I worked fell into complete silence, and we all listened intently. After they said – not guilty – I was shocked. I think everyone else was too. Nobody spoke for about ten minutes. The rest of the day we all just kind of avoided looking at each other. Weird huh ? Anyways, thats hollywood for you. Pleasant nightmares everyone.

Its a funny idea, banning books. Why would you not want someone to read ? Like the old saying goes – you think education is expensive, try ignorance. Just ask the american people about g.w. bush, they`ll tell you all about ignorance. It reminds me of the short video of him sitting in the classroom of the, I believe kindergartners, reading some kids book, and the secret service agent tells him the twin towers have been hit by airplanes. He just sat there for a moment. I think what was going through his head was, ahh, its finally begun. Anyways my point being, taking literature away from people whether you agree with it or not is just stupid. Where there is ignorance there is crime and poverty and unwanted children. Heres a list of books that are currently banned in the us.

As I`m sure alot of people will recognize most of these books. Alot of them you read in school. I know I did. For myself alot of them are by one of my personal favorite authors. Of course also if you havent noticed alot of these books do one thing. Encourage free thought and asking questions. How devious and evil. An old book of poetry I was given many years ago – where the sidewalk ends- by sidney sheldon. Yeah, thats banned as well. Reason ? It encourages children to question authority. Once again truly the work of the devil. So I`ll leave you with a final sarcastic comment. Theres an old metal band I like, cryptic slaughter. The last line of one of there songs was – if heavens like this, then I`d rather go to hell.
Yeah,

Okay, so I found out that the webspace we keep our podcast on is currently out of hard drive space. Doh. How do you run out of space ? If you have a competent IT manager, this should never happen. Anyways, were going to switch over to podbean. Im going to pay the lousy five bucks a month and just be happy. Also I`ll post updates to the podcast here as well.

Okay, so I updated the url for the podcast to reflect the name of the show with the url. So in about one day, when you google auditory dysphoria on google it will bring up the podcast directly. For now just goto mypodcast dot com and type in somnium. Confusing I know. Hence the reason I changed it.

Okay, now then, is it really necessary to illustrate a mutilated women`s body for your bands album cover ? Or to have a picture of some fetal dissection ? Or grave exhumation or autopsy photos ? I mean really people, and you know who you are and so do I. This is all plain sick and disgusting. No its not ‘cool’, or ‘necro’ or any other stupid phrase of appreciation. Its low brow, and just disrespectful. Of course the common retort is, well then don`t look at and or buy it. Believe me, I ain`t. You can be a brutal death metal band or black metal or dark ambient or whatever sub-genre you want without that stuff. I have yet to see a lustmord album cover consisting of body parts. Most black metal album covers are just a bad photo of the band. Of course these are the people that are supposed to be ‘evil’ as well. Its kind of like the dwarves. The guitarist used to play naked. Now if you have to play naked to get my attention, well your band needs work. Anyways.

So we started a podcast, its called auditory dysphoria, and you can find it on mypodcast . com. Get your own free one as well. Its just another way to clog up the internet with more disinformation. What can I say, its fun, and a great way to kill two hours. Several other people I know do this as well. Who knows maybe one day this will become a source of actual news. When the media fails you, become the media yourself. You know what you see, and what is happening around you.
Enjoy.

So, I`m reading a book called ‘hooked’ right now, its about consumerism and materialism in our society. Its pretty amusing and interesting. One point the first author brought up is, `How much stuff do you own ?` He points out that a friend of his who used to be a bank manager and who also is definitely not poor, has six-hundred items in his home. Thats six-hundred items total all inclusive. Pretty impressive eh ? Myself I think I have six hundred cd`s, not to mention all the other crap I own. Or I should say owns me. So as alittle interesting experiment make a list or catalogue of everything you own. Then after that megalithic tome is finished see what you have that you really don`t need. I think you`ll be pretty suprised. Myself I know there`s a ton of things I could get rid of. I usually do a culling of everything I own about once a year. Food for thought.
Enjoy,
S.
